Trolls Defeat Lynx

The first week of competition for the Trolls produced positive results. After beginning with a win in their home opener the team followed it up with a win on the road in a contest at Lincoln College (Lincoln, Illinois).  The team took control of the game from the start and by the half had a 45-31 lead. By the game’s end they posted a 93-67 win.

The Trolls came out strong in the first quarter and out-scored the Lynx 21-8. Lincoln increased their offensive production in the second quarter as they added 23 points. Trinity however scored 24 points in the quarter and at the half had a 14 point lead.

Trinity took total control of the game in the third period when they more than doubled Lincoln’s score. The Trolls added another 31 points to Lincoln’s 15 and by the end of the period were ahead by 30 points.  Trinity maintained their sizable lead in the final quarter for the 93-67 win.

The Trolls shot .449 percent from the field, .429 percent from the arc, and .733 percent from the line. Lincoln was .300 percent from the field, .278 percent from the three-point line, and .600 percent from the free throw line. The Trolls had 51 rebounds and the Lynx had 50.  Trinity was led by Jasmine Elliott with a double double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. Breanna Toppen added 19 points and five assists. Also in double figure scoring was Aubrey Goorman with 13 and Alyssa Mulligan with 10. Alexis Knake recorded seven rebounds.

The Trolls play next on November 3 at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene University at 1 pm.
