Trolls Lose to Eagles

The Trolls started their conference schedule for the second semester in a game at Judson University (Elgin, Illinois). The Trolls took the early lead, but could not hold on to the top spot.  At the half they trailed by only two points at 34-32, but they fell behind by double digits in the second period. By the game’s end they took an 83-71 loss. The team is 7-10 for the season and 3-5 in the CCAC.

In the first period the Trolls had a 9-7 lead with 4:27 left in the quarter. They did not allow Judson another point in the period and took a commanding 21-7 lead at the end of the 10 minute period.

Midway through the second period Trinity was still had the lead, although it was cut to eight points at 27-15. The Trolls went scoreless for the next three minutes which allowed Judson to take over the lead at 29-27. By the half Trinity was down by two at 34-32.

The scoring gap increased in the third quarter as the Eagles made good use of the three-point line in the second half.  With 4:32 to play in the quarter the difference was 10 points at 48-38. Trinity cut the deficit to five, but at the end of the period they trailed 57-49.

Judson went back ahead by double digits in the fourth period and continued to hold their sizable lead. The Trolls got as close as six points on a free throw by Lauren Stokes. However that is a close as they got and the final was a 12 point loss.

Trinity ended the game with a .413 field goal percentage, a .227 three-point percentage, and a .667 free throw percentage. Judson was .435 percent accurate from the floor, .357 percent from the arc, including .500 percent in the second half, and .722 percent from the line. The Trolls had 40 rebounds and Judson had 44. Katie Moran led the team with a double double of 13 points and 15 rebounds. Three other players were also in double figure scoring with Jessica Bianchi at 14, Ally Giampapa with 13, and Lauren Stokes with 12. Stokes also had five rebounds and three assists. Celina Wanta recorded five points to put her over the 1,000 point total for her career.

The Trolls will play next on January 10 at home against Saint Xavier University at 5:30 pm.
