Trolls Lose to Lakers

The Trolls took another hard conference loss in a home game with Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois). The team fell behind earlier in the game and by the end of the first quarter they were down by 15 points. The gap was 19 points by the half and Trinity continued to struggle in the second half for the eventual 82-55 loss. With the defeat the team falls to 5-8 overall and 3-4 in the CCAC.

For the first six minutes of the game the Trolls did not score and by that time Roosevelt had an 11-0 lead. By the end of the quarter Trinity trailed 23-8. Shooting only .324 percent from the floor in the half did not help the Trolls gain ground in the second quarter. Roosevelt was .567 percent in the half and hit 7-of-13 three-pointers to create a 47-28 half-time score.

In the third period the scoring gap grew to 32 points as Trinity added only 13 more points to the Lakers’ 20. The Trolls were not able to make a dent in the scoring gap in the final period and ended in the 27 point loss.

For the game the Trolls had a .339 field goal percentage and were 6-of-6 from the line. Roosevelt shot .475 percent from the floor and .609 percent (14-of-23) from the line. The Trolls took in 29 rebounds and the Lakers had 47. Lauren Stokes led the team with 15 points, three assists, and three steals. Breanna Toppen added nine points and Kelsie Foster was the high rebounder with seven.

The Trolls play next on December 19 at Taylor University in a 6 pm EST game.
