Trolls Stymied by Tigers

For the second time this week the Trolls faced a nationally ranked opponent. This latest game was a home contest against No. 20 Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois).  It was not a good outing for Trinity as they had their lowest offensive output of the season while giving up the most points defensively. After the first half the Trolls were in a 37 deficit and they ended the game with a 118-48 loss. The team is not 5-5 for the season and 3-2 in the CCAC.

The Trolls struggled from the beginning and did not score for the first six minutes of the game. During that stretch Olivet Nazarene poured in 16 points to take the commanding lead.  By the end of the period the Trolls trailed 31-12.

Trinity never did find their rhythm in the first half and added only another 12 points in the second quarter. Olivet continued to light up the scoreboard and at the break the score was 61-24.

The third quarter did not get any better for the Trolls as they added only six points. The Tigers started to utilize the three-point line more and connected on 6-of-10 from the arc in the quarter to boost their point total for the period to 40. In the remainder of the game the scoring gap increased to as much as 72 points before the final 70 point difference.

The Trolls ended the game with a .317 field goal percentage while Olivet Nazarene shot .531 percent, including .552 percent from the arc. The Tigers also scored 16 points from the free throw line while the Trinity scored five. Leading the team in scoring was Jessica Bianchi and Alexis Knake with nine points each. Ellie Stevens added seven points. Celina Wanta, Lauren Stokes, and Kelsie Foster each had five rebounds.

Trinity is next in action on December 9 at St. Ambrose University in a 1 pm game.
