Trolls Beat Jaguars in CCAC Opener

The conference opener for the Trolls was a win at Governors State University (University Park, Illinois). Trinity scored the first basket of the game and did not look back as they posted a 69-52 victory. The team had a 12 point lead at the intermission and they continued to pull away during the second half. Trinity moves to 3-3 overall and is 1-0 in the CCAC.

Trinity scored the first six points of the game to establish their lead. They continued to hold the top spot and by the end of the first quarter they were ahead 17-10. They started the second quarter in the same fashion as they went on a 7-to-0 run. They built the lead to 17 points at 29-12, before the Jaguars cut it back to 12, 29-17, at the half.

Throughout the third quarter the Trolls maintained their double digit lead. The lead got as wide as 19 points and it was there at the end of the period. Midway through the final quarter the Trolls had their biggest lead at 26 points. Governors State gained some ground before the end of the game, but the Trolls took the 17 point win.

For the game the Trolls shot .392 percent from the field, .429 percent from the line, and .833 percent from the line. Governors State was .379 percent from the floor, .143 percent from the arc, and .429 percent from the charity stripe. The Trolls had 32 rebounds and the Jaguars had 42. Celina Wanta led the team with 17 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Ally Giampapa and Lauren Stokes were in double figure scoring 13 and 11 points respectively.  Kelsie Foster had nine points and four rebounds.

The Trolls play again on November 16 in a exhibition game at UW-Parkside at 7 pm.
