Trolls Cruise by Crimson Wave

In the final game of the regular season the Trolls hosted Calumet College of St. Joseph (Whiting, Indiana) in a home game on Senior Day. Trinity took control of the game from the beginning and led the entire 40 minutes. They were up 51-31 at the half and finished with a 79-52 final score. The Trolls end their regular season with a 16-14 overall record and in seventh place in the CCAC standings at 9-2.

The Trolls came out with their pressure defense and caused eight turnovers in the first seven minutes to charge ahead 20-6. At the end of the first quarter they still had a 14 point lead at 26-12.

The scoring gap increased to 20 points early in the second period and Trinity maintained their sizable lead throughout the quarter. By half-time the team was ahead 51-31.

Calumet-St. Joseph never really threatened in the final two quarters and the Trolls were able to use their entire team to contribute on the court.  Trinity added only seven points in the third quarter, but tacked on 21 in the final quarter for the 27 point win.

For the game the Trolls shot .414 percent from the floor, .333 percent from the arc, and .611 percent from the line. Calumet-St. Joseph was .375 percent from the floor, .167 percent from the three-point line, and .571 percent from the charity stripe. Trinity had a total of 42 rebounds and the Crimson Wave had 39. Lauren Stokes led the team with 18 points and Bethany Jansma had 16. Jansma was also the high rebounder with seven. Celina Wanta took in six rebounds and handed out seven assists.

The Trolls will advance to the CCAC Tournament and play in the quarter-final round on February 22. The final seeding and pairings for the tournament are yet to be determined.
