Trinity Defeats Calumet-St. Joseph

With another win the Trolls move back to the .500 mark and reach double-digits in the win column. Their 10th victory of the season came at Calumet College of St. Joseph (Whiting, Indiana) in a conference game. The Trolls had a 13-point half-time lead and ended with a 56-41 win. The team is 10-10 for the season and 4-8 in the CCAC.

The Trolls took the early lead in the game and went ahead by as many as nine points in the first quarter. By the end of the period the team had a 15-8 lead. The Trolls created a double-digit lead in the first three minutes in the second quarter and continued to increase the scoring gap to as many as 15 points with a minute left in the half. At the intermission the score was 31-18.

Trinity took complete control of the game in the third period when they allowed Calumet-St. Joseph only four points. The Trolls’ lead increased to 25 points by the end of the period. In the final quarter the Crimson wave cut into the difference to make it a 15-point difference by the game’s end.

For the game the Trolls shot .368 percent from the floor and .800 percent from the line. Calumet-St. Joseph was .304 percent from the field and just .273 percent from the line. Trinity had 42 rebounds while the Crimson Wave had 34. Kelsie Foster led the Trolls with 13 points and five rebounds. Katie Moran and Kara Cunningham each added nine points. Celina Wanta chipped in eight points and five boards.  Jessica Bianchi and Bethany Jansma each had four assists and four steals.

The Trolls play next on January 21 at St. Ambrose University at 1 pm.
