Trinity Takes Care of Waldorf

In their second game of the season the Trolls picked up their second win of the season with a 73-56 victory over Waldorf University (Forest City, Iowa). It was the first ever meeting between these two schools. Trinity had a 41-32 half-time lead that they extended to a 17 point victory.

The Trolls forced the Warriors into 40 turnovers, which converted to 31 points for the team. With that defensive pressure and a .414 field goal percentage the Trolls were able to hold the lead for all but the opening minutes.

Tied at 6-6 in the early going the Trolls went on a 6-to-0 run to take a six point lead. They finished the first quarter with two treys that put them ahead at 18-9.

In the second quarter Trinity built a 10 point lead only to have it cut to two points at 28-26 with three minutes left. The difference was still a bucket with two minutes to play, but the Trolls outscored the Warriors 10-to-3 in the remaining time to return to their nine point lead at the half.

The third quarter was the difference in the game as the Trolls held the Warriors to five points while they added 20. By the end of the period Trinity had a 66-37 lead. The team added only seven points in the final 10 minutes for 73-56 final.

For the game Trinity shot .414 percent and Waldorf was .333 percent from the floor. The Trolls gathered 32 rebounds, but gave up 49. The team recorded 26 steals. Celina Wanta was the high scorer with 19 points. She also had six rebounds and eight steals. Bethany Jansma added 14 points and five rebounds. Lauren Stokes had 11 points, four rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

The Trolls play next on November 5 at home against Bethel College at 1 pm.
