Four Athletes To Compete in NAIA Track and Field Championships

There will be four members of the women’s track and field team representing Trinity at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 23-25. All four of Trinity’s competitors will be in action on Saturday, May 25 with three athletes running the marathon and one athlete competing in the high jump.  

Seniors Megan DeWeerd (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), Hope Fathman (Hamilton, Michigan) and Nicole Syverson (Hawthorn Woods, Illinois) will be in a field of 51 runners that will take on the 26 mile course. The start time for the marathon is 6 am ET on Saturday. From their half-marathon qualifying times DeWeerd and Syverson are ranked 39th and 40th respectively and Fathman is 47th.

Sophomore Madelyn Clausen (Lakeville, Minnesota) is in a field of 35 jumpers in the high jump. During the season she set a new school record at 5-06 (1.68 meter) and ranks in a tie for ninth place in the nation.  The high jump competition begins at 2 pm ET on Saturday.
