Trinity at Concordia Cougar Invitational

The Trolls put their skills to the test at the Concordia University Cougar Invitational (River Forest, Illinois). The team members competed against a wide variety of schools from various levels. Overall the women’s team scored 29 points and finished in ninth place of 17 scoring teams. The men tallied 19 points for 13th place of 18 teams.

The women’s team picked up the most points in the 4 x 400 meter relay which they won. The foursome of Ashley Jourdan, Anna Spotts, Katie Moran, and Carissa Wisse crossed the line with a time of 4:20.71.

Jourdan also contributed to the point total with a second place finish in the 1500 meter. Her time of 4:42.83 was only two second off the NAIA qualifying standard and was her best race in that event this season.

In the field events Moran scored in the triple jump with a fourth place finish at 33-01.75. Sarah Kliora also scored in that event in 6th with a distance of 32-00. The team also picked up points in two throwing events. Molly Toepper was seventh in the javelin at 101-01 and Daisy Geurink took eighth in the shot put with a throw of 35-05.25. Rachel Kuipers was just outside the scoring with a ninth place finish in the discus with a personal best distance of 103-01.

Scoring the most points for the men’s team was Keegan Fitzsimmons in the 3000 meter. He finished in second place with a time of 9:00.50. Also in a distance race, Brantley VanOverloop finished in eighth place in the 5000 meter. He crossed the line at 16:36.42. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sam DeKryger, Andy Boss, Kevin Courtney, and Jason Nagelkirk took sixth place with a time of 3:35.87.

The team picked up points in one field event when Luke Boss took fourth in the javelin. Competing in the event for the first time, he recorded a distance of 141-04.

The teams will compete next at Grace College on April 29.
