Trolls Defeated By Wolves

The Trolls wrapped up their conference schedule in a double-header at Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin). Trinity gave up runs in the early innings of the first game, and despite a late game surge, they lost 6-3.  The outcome of the second game was determined by one late inning. Cardinal Stritch scored two runs in the sixth inning to hand the Trolls a 2-0 loss.

In game one, Trinity fell behind in the first inning as the first three batters for Cardinal Stritch got on base and score. The scoring gap doubled in the third inning as the Wolves added three more runs.

The team stayed in the 6-0 deficit until the sixth inning when they go on the board on a two-run homer by Sydni Mitchell. Trinity continued to chip away at the Wolves’ lead in the seventh inning and on three consecutive hits they scored one more run. However the next three batters were all retired and the team took the 6-3 loss.

Each team had nine hits for the game and two errors. Mitchell led the team with two hits and two RBI. Audrey Ricker also had two hits.

The second game remained scoreless through the first five innings. Trinity took advantage of a few errors by the Wolves to get on base, but they did not get the hits to score. Defensively they limited Cardinal Stritch on the base path through those innings.

Cardinal Stritch gained the advantage in the bottom of the sixth inning when they hit three doubles in a row to score two runs. In their final at bat, Trinity could not get on the board as they were three up and three down.

The Trolls had three hits for the game and Cardinal Stritch had five. Katie Demas, Dara Megyesi, and Mitchell registered the hits for the team.

Trinity will conclude their season on April 25 in a home non-conference double-header with Lindenwood University-Belleville at 3 pm.
