Trolls Denied by Eagles

For the second day in a row the Trolls were in conference action as they hosted Judson University (Elgin, Illinois) in a home double-header.  Both games got away from the Trolls fairly early and ended before the regulation seven innings. Trinity fought to stay alive in the first game, but took a 12-4 loss after six innings.  The second game ended after five innings with a 14-1 loss.

In the first game Judson scored in each inning except for one. By the end of the third inning the Trolls trailed 6-1. Trinity’s one run came in the first inning on a single by Sydni Mitchell.

The Eagles added three runs in the fourth inning to make it 9-1. The Trolls were not ready to give up and, in the bottom of the fifth with two runners on base and two outs, pinch hitter Dara Megyesi singled to left field to score two runs which kept the game alive.

Judson answered right back in the top of the sixth with three runs to go ahead by 12-3. Emili Bell started the bottom half with a double and she eventually scored on a single by Katie Demas.  Without scoring another run in the inning the game ended on the mercy rule.

Trinity had seven hits from seven different players. Judson ended the game with 13 hits. Bell got the pitching loss.

The second game did not start well for the Trolls as Judson scored ten runs. The Trolls only had four runners on base in the first four innings and after the fourth they trailed 12-0.

Trinity gave up two more runs in the top of the fifth. In the bottom half Audrey Ricker walked and Bell singled to get on base. Liza Moore put the ball in play to bring Ricker home for the Trolls’ only run. Down by more than eight runs at the end of the inning the game concluded.

The Trolls had three hits for the game and Judson had 14.

Trinity will play in non-conference action on April 19 at Indiana Tech at 1 pm EST.
