Trolls Fall to Rangers

Trinity took a break in their conference schedule to play against University of Wisconsin-Parkside (Kenosha, Wisconsin), a NCAA Division II program. The games were originally schedule for March 15, but postponed until today.  A rough first inning in the first game determined the outcome as Trinity lost 8-0 on the mercy rule after five innings. The team fell behind in the second game and despite a rally in the late innings, they lost 6-4.

The Trolls gave up six runs on six hits in the top of the first inning to create a sizable deficit. Trinity had only three runners on base in the first three innings as they struggled to get their offensive going.  UW-Parkside gained one run in the fourth inning and another in the fifth to go ahead by eight. When the Trolls failed to score after five innings the game ended on the mercy rule.

Trinity finished the game with four hits and UW-Parkside had nine. Sydni Mitchell led the team with two hits.

Through the first three innings of the second game there was only one hit and that came from UW-Parkside. The Rangers added four hits in the fourth inning and scored three runs to take the lead. They added another three runs in the fifth inning to pull ahead 6-0.

The Trolls did not get their first hit until the fifth inning when Brandi Machado doubled to start the at bat. She eventually scored on a wild pitch and the Trolls gained a second run on a RBI single by Ahliza Moore.

After a scoreless sixth inning, Trinity held the Rangers in the top of the seventh. Mitchell started things off in the bottom half with a double and scored on a single by Moore. The team gained another run on a single by Alissa Gardenal. They had two runners on base when the inning and their rally ended.

Trinity ended with six hits and UW-Parkside had eight hits. Mitchell and Moore each had two hits.

The Trolls will play again on April 13 in a conference double-header at the University of St. Francis at 3 pm.
