Trolls Drop Two Games to Trojans

The Trolls started their week in a conference double-header at Trinity International University (Deerfield, Illinois). There was scoring in almost every inning of the first game, but the Trolls did not match the runs the Trojans put on the board and finished with 11-7 loss. The Trolls had plenty of hits in the second game and held a 1-0 lead until the final inning when the Trojans scored twice to hand Trinity a 2-1 loss.

In the first game the Trolls gave up one run in the bottom of the first inning, but briefly took over the lead in the third inning when they scored two runs. Trinity International got those two runs back in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 3-2.

Trinity fell further behind in the fifth inning when the Trojans scored five runs. The Trolls continued to fight and closed to 8-4 in the sixth with two runs scored on a double by Brandi Machado. The Trojans put a damper on the Trolls’ rally when they added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 11-4.

The Trolls kept coming at the Trojans and in their final at bat they added three runs on four singles. However it was not enough to keep the game alive.

The Trolls had eight hits for the game, but allowed 13.  Machado and Emili Bell each had two hits. Bell pitched the six innings for the loss.

Trinity had 10 hits in the second game, but could not covert them to runs. The team scored in the first inning when a double by Audrey Ricker scored one run. They had runners on base in each of the following innings, but were not able to move them around the bags.

The Trolls were able to hold the Trojans and kept their 1-0 lead until the seventh inning. The Trojans started their at bat in the bottom half with a triple. They followed with two singles that each scored a run to end the game in the 2-1 final.

Six different players had hits for the Trolls with Katie Demas, Ricker, Jessica Boyd, and Ahliza Moore each claiming two.  Dara Megyesi pitched the final four innings and took the loss.

The team plays next at home against University of Wisconsin-Parkside on April 11 at 3:30 pm.
