Trolls Denied by Fighting Bees

Moving to the inside facility of the St. Ambrose Dome, the Trolls and the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose University (Davenport, Iowa) played in a conference double-header. Trinity managed only one run in each game as they fell to St. Ambrose. In the first game the Trolls lost 9-1 in five innings on the mercy rule. The final score of the second game was 6-1.

Trinity got on the board in the first inning of the first game when a single by Brandi Machado drove in a run. However that was the only run the team managed. St. Ambrose scored in each inning with a good portion of their runs came on multi-base hits with four doubles and a home run. At the end of four innings the Fighting Bees led 7-1. Behind four singles in the bottom of the fifth St. Ambrose scored two more runs to go ahead by eight and end the game on the mercy rule.

The Trolls had three hits for game and St. Ambrose had 13. Machado led the team with two hits. Emili Bell was on the mound for the loss.

In the second game the St. Ambrose took a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Trolls had at least one hit in each inning except one, but only scored a run in the fourth inning. In that at bat Audrey Ricker and Claudia Pareja singled to get on base and, after a sacrifice bunt by Bell, Katie Price put down a base-hit bunt to score one run.

St. Ambrose had a double and a triple in each the fifth and sixth innings to add one run in each of those innings to increase their lead to 6-1. The Trolls failed to score in their final at bat and took the loss.

For the game Trinity had nine hits and St. Ambrose had 11. Pareja and Price each had two hits. Dara Megyesi pitched the six innings for the loss.

The team plays next on April 2 in a non-conference double-header at Wheaton College.
