Trinity Drops Two Games

The third day of competition for the Trolls in the PFX Spring Games in Florida resulted in two more losses. The team opened the day with a 7-4 loss to Bellevue University (Bellevue, Nebraska). They followed with a contest against Reinhardt University (Waleska, Georgia) in which they fell 4-2. The team is 0-6 with four more games to play in Florida.

A rough start for the Trolls in the game with Bellevue determined the outcome of the contest. The Trolls gave up six hits and seven runs in the top of the first inning to create a deficit. The Trolls settled into the game after that and did not give up any more hits or runs. In the fourth inning Trinity rallied with four hits to put four runs on the board. The team had at least one base runner in the next three innings, but did not score for the 7-4 loss.

The Trolls ended the game with 10 hits with Emili Bell, Audrey Ricker, and Dara Megyesi each getting two.  Katie Price started the game on the mound and got the loss.

Trinity faced Reinhardt in the second game of the day. The Trolls started the second inning with hits by Sydni Mitchell, Ricker, and Bell to put two runs on the board and take the lead. Reinhardt answered with one run in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1. The Eagles took over the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run homer and went up 4-2 with another run in the fifth inning. The Trolls tried to keep the game alive and had a runner on third in the top of the seventh, but they did not score.

For the game Trinity had seven hits and Reinhardt had five. Mitchell and Bell each had two hits. Bell also pitched the six inning for the loss.

Trinity plays next on March 7 in games with the University of St. Francis (IN) and Briar Cliff University.
