Amanda Fazzari Named Head Softball Coach

The Athletics Department at Trinity Christian College announces the hiring of Amanda Fazzari as their new head softball coach. Fazzari comes to Trinity from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons. She takes over the program from Coach Jackie Manrique, who directed the team for two years.

“We are pleased to have Amanda as our new head softball coach and believe that she will be a great asset to Troll softball and a strong fit for Trinity,” said Athletics Director Mark Hanna. “We look forward to having the softball program develop under her leadership and coaching.”

At Illinois Wesleyan, Fazzari served as the primary offensive instructor and infield coordinator. She helped the Titans to conference regular season and tournament championships, regional and super regional championships, and to NCAA Division III national runner-up and fifth place finishes.  She was instrumental in improving the team’s run total and fielding percentage. Fazzari, along with the rest of the coaching staff, earned the Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2017 and 2018.

Before coaching at Illinois Wesleyan, Fazzari was an assistant coach at Heartland Community College for one season where she helped that team to a conference and district championship and a NJCAA Division II National Tournament appearance.  Offensively she aided in improving the team’s batting average while setting school season records in home runs and runs batted in. The team also improved in their fielding percentage.

Fazzari also has experience as an instructor in personal lessons and at various camps and clinics. In addition she was a graduate student manager for the softball program at Illinois State University.

Fazzari played collegiately at Illinois Wesleyan for three seasons as a starting second baseman and shortstop and earned CCIW All-Conference honors in her senior year. She helped the team to two regular season championships, two conference tournament championships, two regional championships, one super regional appearance, and a single season school win record (41-7) with a 21 game winning streak.  During her time at Illinois Wesleyan, she was an All-American Scholar Athlete.

“I am truly honored and humbled to be the next head softball coach at Trinity,” said Fazzari. “The softball program has so much potential and I look forward to getting to know the team members, to providing a Christ-centered and positive experience, and to developing champions of character on and off the field. We will work hard to improve and provide an exciting brand of softball to both play and watch.”

A Wheaton native, Fazzari graduated from Glenbard South High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Illinois Wesleyan in 2014. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Kinesiology and Recreation, Sport Management from Illinois State in 2017. At Illinois State she served as a graduate assistant in the compliance office.
