Softball Athletes Earn Recognition

At the conclusion of the softball season, a number of players on the Trolls’ softball team received post-season honors.  The team, which advanced to the CCAC Tournament, had two athletes named to the CCAC All-Conference Team, three on the NCCAA North Central All-Region Team, and four earn scholar-athlete honors.

Junior Chloe McRobbie (Kendallville, Indiana) earned multiple honors as she was selected as CCAC All-Conference First Team, NCCAA North Central All-Region, and to the CCAC All-Tournament Team.  The starting short stop led the team and ranked second in the conference with a .426 batting average. For the season she had 55 hits, including 10 doubles, three triples, and five home runs. She also led the team with 33 RBI and with 34 runs. In addition, McRobbie is a NAIA, NCCAA, and CCAC Scholar-Athlete.

Jamie Budreau (Kendallville, Indiana) also received CCAC and NCCAA honors. The starting third baseman was named to the All-Conference Second Team as well as to the NCCAA All-Region Team. For the season she posted a .346 batting average with a total of 44 hits and 29 RBI. She led the team in doubles at 13 and in home runs at eight.  She ranked second in the conference in home runs. She also led the team in assists with 97.

Pitcher Dara Megyesi (Washington, Illinois) was on the NCCAA All-Region Team and named to the CCAC All-Tournament Team.  The junior finished the season with a 3.64 ERA in 161.1 innings pitched. She made 34 appearances with 27 starts and had four shut-outs throughout the year. She struck out 118 batters and ranked seventh in the CCAC in strike-outs per game.  Megyesi also excelled in the classroom and will receive NAIA, NCCAA, and CCAC scholar-athlete honors.

Joining McRobbie and Megyesi on the scholar-athlete lists are senior Katelyn Sena (McHenry, Illinois) and junior Melinda Russell (Bourbonnais, Illinois). They will receive recognition from the NAIA, NCCAA, and the CCAC.

The Trolls ended their season with a 16-27 overall record and finished in seventh place in the conference with an 8-14 record.
