Troll Bow Out of CCAC Tournament

In the second day of competition the No. 7 Trolls took two losses to be eliminated from the CCAC Championship. Their morning game was a 10-0 mercy rule loss to No. 3 Trinity International University. In their elimination game the Trolls faced No. 1 University of St. Francis and fell with a 6-1 final. The team completes their season with a 16-27 overall record.

The Trolls started the second day of play with the morning game against Trinity International. The team struggled early and gave up runs in each of the first four innings. Trinity International had eight hits in the first two innings to post a 6-0 lead. The Trojans added another two in each the third and the fourth to make it 10-0.

The Trolls had runners on base in each of those first four innings, but were not able to string hits together move them around the bags. Their best opportunity to score came in the bottom of the fourth when Audrey Ricker started the at bat out with a triple. However she was thrown out trying to score on the next play.

With a 10-0 score after five innings, the game ended on the mercy rule.

Trinity had five hits for the game the Trojans had 12. The hits for the Trolls came from five different players. Dara Megyesi pitched the first 1.2 innings for the loss.

Facing St. Francis, the Trolls fell behind early. They gave up runs in the second and third inning and trailed 3-0 after the third. Trinity’s only run came in the fifth inning. Mercedes Munoz got on base with a hit and was moved on two sacrifice bunts. Katelyn Sena followed with a hit that brought Munoz across the plate.  

The 3-1 score held until the bottom of the sixth when St. Francis doubled their score to take a 6-1 lead. When the Trolls failed to score in the top of the seventh, the game ended.

For the game Trinity had five hits from five batters and Sena had the only RBI. Megyesi pitched the complete game for the loss.
