Trolls Start CCAC Tournament with Upset Victory

The No. 7 seeded Trolls begin their play in the CCAC Championship at The Ballpark at Rosemont with an upset victory over No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois).  Each team scored in the fourth inning of the game to create a 1-1 tie. Trinity added another run in the sixth inning and that run proved to be the game winner with a 2-1 final. The team moves on to face Trinity International University on Friday, May 4, at 9 am.

Through the first three innings of the game the Trolls had only one runner on base and the Tigers had two. In the top of the fourth Olivet Nazarene marked the scoreboard when a double drove in a run. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Chloe McRobbie singled to center field and Brandi Machado followed with a double to left field to score McRobbie and tie the game.

In the bottom of the sixth Makayla Otto walked to get on base and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jamie BudreauMcRobbie stepped to the plate and send a ball deep to left center for a double to score the run and give the Trolls the 2-1 lead.

In the top of the seventh Olivet Nazarene managed a couple of runners on base, but the pitching and defensive held strong and kept the Tigers from scoring.

For the game the Trolls had four hits and Olivet Nazarene had eight. McRobbie led the team with two hits. Dara Megyesi was on the mound for the seven innings for the win.
