Trolls Get Extra Innings Win

In their last regular season games the Trolls hosted Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) in a double-header. The first game lasted nearly three hours went to 11 innings before the Trolls took a 3-2 win. Due to the length of the first game, the second game was not completed. Trinity had a 10-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when the game was halted due to darkness. The contest will be completed at a date and time to be determined.  With the one victory the Trolls are 14-25 overall and at 7-14 in the conference they keep their hopes of advancing to the conference tournament alive.

Through the first six innings of the first game the Trolls were on base only twice and both of those at bats were walks.  The Wolves had four batters on base through five innings, but connected on three hits in the sixth inning to score two runs and take the lead.  

Trinity stopped the Wolves’ no-hitter in the seventh inning. After a walk by Katelyn Sena, Jessica Wasik put the ball in play to second base and beat the throw for the hit.  The team continued with hits by Chloe McRobbie and Brandi Machado to bring in two runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

Neither team scored in the first three innings of extended play, but the Trolls stranded runners on second and third base in the ninth inning. Sena started the bottom of the 11th with base hit bunt and Wasik followed with walk. Jamie Budreau got on to load the base with no outs. McRobbie battled through her at bat and took a walk that brought in the winning run to end the game.

For the game Trinity had five hits and Cardinal Stritch had nine. McRobbie led the team with two hits and two RBI. Dara Megyesi pitched through nine innings and Audrey Ricker stepped into finish the game and get the win.
