Trolls Shut Out Bellevue

The Trolls concluded their play in the PXF Spring Games in Florida on a positive note with a 4-0 shut-out victory over Bellevue University (Bellevue, Nebraska), a team receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll. Trinity scored in the opening inning to take the lead and held the Bruins to only two hits for the game. The Trolls added a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth for the 4-0 win.  The team’s first game of the day with Concordia University (Ann Arbor, Michigan) was cancelled.  The Trolls ended their spring break trip with a 4-5 record to bring their season record to 4-7 overall.

Dara Megyesi started the game off with three straight strike-outs. In the bottom of the inning lead-off batter Makayla Otto singled to get on base and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jamie Budreau.  In the bottom of the fourth inning Budreau hit a solo homer to give the Trolls a 2-0 lead.

Megyesi and the defensive continued to limit Bellevue on the base path.  In the bottom of the sixth inning the Trolls put together three hits, including a double by Budreau to score two more runs. The Bruins were three up and three down in the top of the seventh and the game ended with the 4-0 win.

The Trolls had six hits for the game with Budreau claiming two of those for three RBI.  Megyesi pitched the entire game for the win.

Trinity plays next in their conference opener at Olivet Nazarene University on March 21 at 3 pm.
