Trolls Lose in Final Home Games

On Senior Day in which the team honored Emily Phillips the Trolls hosted Purdue University-Northwest (Hammond, Indiana). It was the final home games as well as the final regular season conference games for Trinity. Positioned in a tie for eighth place in the standings Trinity needed a win to help their cause, but they came up short. They lost the first game 6-1 and fell 3-0 in the second game.  The team is now 18-20 overall and 9-15 in the standings and will have to wait until the rest of the conference schedule plays out to determine if they make the CCAC Tournament.

Trinity trailed 2-0 before they got on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning of the first game on a solo homer by Jamie Budreau. Purdue-Northwest came on strong in the 4th inning when three hits scored three runs to make it a 5-1 game.

In their remaining at bats the Trolls only got three runners on base. The Pride added a final run in the 6th inning to create the five run difference at the end of the game.

For the game Trinity had eight hits and Purdue-Northwest had 10. Mercedes Munoz led the team with two hits. Dara Megyesi was on the mound for the loss.

In the second game Purdue-Northwest took the early lead as they scored in the 1st inning. The Trolls held them until the 4th inning when they added on more. The final run came in the top of the 7th.

The Trolls struggled to get on base and recorded only five hits in the game. Their best opportunity to score came in the 4th inning when they had a runner on third. In the final three innings they only got one runner on base in each of the innings.

Phillips ended the game with two hits to lead the team. Jenna Steinkamp pitched the complete game for the loss.

The team will wait to see if they advance to the conference tournament which begins on May 4.
