Trolls Split with Lakers

The Trolls ended with a split result in a double-header at Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois). Trinity dropped the first game with a 5-3 final, but came back in the second game with a 6-1 win. With one more conference double-header left on their schedule, the Trolls are still in the mix of teams that can advance to the post-season tournament. Overall Trinity has an 18-18 record and in the conference they are 9-13.

Each team scored one run in the 1st inning of the opening game. The Trolls took the lead in the 5th inning on a RBI single by Chloe McRobbie. They could not hold the top spot as the Lakers scored three runs in the 4th inning to go ahead 4-2.

Trinity gained one more run in the 5th inning when Emily Phillips singled to get on base and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Roosevelt came back with a run in the 6th inning to once again create a two-run gap. The Trolls had two runners on base in the 7th inning, but failed to move them.

The Trolls ended the game with five hits coming from five different players. Jenna Steinkamp was the pitcher of record for the loss.

In the second game the Trolls kept the base path busy throughout the game and scored in five different innings. After scoring one run in each the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings Trinity took a 3-1 lead.  The Trolls extended their lead in the top of the 6th with two runs as Katelyn Sena doubled and Jamie Budreau homered to make it 5-1. The team added a final run in the 7th inning to take the five run win.

Trinity had 11 hits for the game with Sena and Dara Megyesi each claiming three. Budreau ended the game with two hits and two RBI. Megyesi pitched the complete game for the win.

The team continues conference action on April 26 in a home double-header with Purdue University-Northwest at 3 pm.
