Trinity Loses One and Gets One Against Cardinal Stritch

A conference double-header with Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) ended with a loss and a win for the Trolls. In the first game the damage was done in the first inning as the Trolls gave up four runs and ended in 6-1 loss. The Trolls trailed after three innings in game two, but came on strong with nine runs in the next two innings for a walk-off 10-2 win on the mercy rule in the 5th inning. The team is 11-15 overall and 4-10 in the CCAC.

In the opening game the Wolves kept the base path busy in the 1st inning as their entire line-up got on base. On three hits and one error they scored four runs for 4-0 lead.  The Trolls got on the board in the 3rd inning on a RBI double by Jamie Budreau to make it 4-1. It was not until the 6th that Cardinal Stritch struck again with a run. Then they added one in the 7th for the 6-1 final.

For the game the Trolls had six hits and Cardinal Stritch had 10. Alisson Ramirez led the team with three hits.

The Trolls were the first to strike in the second game with a run in the 2nd inning, but the Wolves got that one back plus one in the top of the 3rd. Trinity came on strong in the 4th inning when they took advantage of a couple of errors as well as had three hits to score five runs to take a 6-2 lead.

The Trolls kept things going in the 5th inning. Melinda Russell started at bat with a double and she was brought in by a single by Katie Shoulta. Singles by Ramirez and Chloe McRobbie loaded the bases and a sacrifice fly by Budreau scored Shoulta. With runners on second and third, Mercedes Munoz send a ball down the left field line to score two runs and end the game on the mercy rule.

The Trolls had 12 hits for the game and Cardinal Stritch had four.  Munoz was 3-for-4 with three RBI and Shoulta was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Dara Megyesi had nine strike-outs in five innings pitched and recorded the win.

Trinity plays again on April 13 at 3 pm at Calumet College of St. Joseph at 3 pm.
