Second half goals hand Trolls a CCAC loss

The Trinity men’s soccer team hosted Saint Xavier University in the opening game of the conference schedule. The Trolls and the Cougars battled through a scoreless first half, but Saint Xavier scored twice in the second half to hand Trinity a 2-0 loss.

Each team had their opportunities to score in the first period with a handful of shots. Yet the scoreboard remained blank after 45 minutes of play. Saint Xavier gained the advantage 12 minutes into the second period when Fabian Lopez scored to put the Cougars ahead.

The urgency for the Trolls to score increased 12 minutes later when Christian Nava finished a cross for the Cougars and the score went to 2-0. Trinity had a few good opportunities in the remainder of the half, but could not find the net.

Trinity is next in action on September 25 at Indiana University-Northwest in an 8 pm CCAC game.
