Trinity Drops Game to Saint Xavier

A four game winning streak ended for the Trolls with a loss at Saint Xavier University (Chicago, Illinois) in their final game of the season. Each team scored one goal in the first period to end the half with a tie. The teams played in that deadlock until in the final minutes of the game when Saint Xavier scored on a penalty kick to hand the Trolls a 2-1 loss.

Through the majority of the first half the teams played without a score. In the 31st minute Saint Xavier scored to take the lead. Trinity continued to push and nine minutes later they got a goal on a scramble in front of the net as Alejandro Sotelo connected with the ball. At half-time the teams were tied 1-1.

With each team taking nine shots in the second period the score remained tied. It looked as if the game might go into overtime, until a foul by Trinity in the 87th minute led to a penalty kick for the Cougars. Saint Xavier made the most of that opportunity to score a goal to hand the Trolls the 2-1 loss.

For the game the Trolls had a total of 13 shots and Saint Xavier had 17. Mathis Muller ended with six saves.

The Trolls end their regular season tied for eighth place in the CCAC standings and will wait to see if they qualify for the CCAC Tournament that begins on November 2.
