Trolls Shut-Out Trojans

In a rivalry game between the Trinity teams, the Trolls came out on top against Trinity International University (Deerfield, Illinois). The Trinity scored midway through the first period and that was all they needed to get the 1-0 win over the Trojans. With the win the team claimed the “Trinity Shield”, a new tradition between these programs. The victory was also the third in a row for the Trolls who improve to 4-10-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the CCAC.

Through the first 25 minutes of play each team had taken only one shot. The next shot for the Trolls was from Justin Taylor and it hit the post. Less than a minute later Taylor crossed a ball to Tyler Massa who finished for the goal in the 29th minute. Trinity got two more shots off in the period, but at the half the score was 1-0.

Trinity International picked up their shot attempts in the second period, but the Trolls’ defense held strong. The Trojans had eight shots for the period while the Trolls had two. However at the end of the game it was that one goal in the first half that made the difference as the game ended with the 1-0 final.

The Trolls had a total of seven hosts and the Trojans had nine. Mathis Muller got the shut-out and recorded six saves.

Trinity plays next on October 23 in a conference game at Calumet College of St. Joseph at 3 pm. (Note the game time change from the originally scheduled 7 pm.)
