Trolls Top Bees

A road trip to Davenport, Iowa to take on the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose University was just what the Trolls needed. Picking up their first conference victory of the season, the team defeated St. Ambrose with a score of 2-1. Trinity struck first, but St. Ambrose tied the game by the half. The Trolls added another goal in the second period and held on for the win.

Trinity got the early advantage in the game when they scored 13 minutes into the opening period. The goal came from Alejandro Sotelo who took a pass from Justin Taylor. Trinity held their 1-0 lead until the 28th minute when St. Ambrose scored off a corner kick to tie the game. The teams took the deadlock into the half-time.

The teams fought back and forth in the second half and the defensive efforts for both squads allowed fewer shots. Midway through the period Trinity got the look they needed as Taylor won a ball and fired a shot from the top of the box that beat the Bee’s keeper. For the remaining 25 minutes the Trolls were able to maintain their lead and come away with the win.

Trinity had a total of 13 shots for the game of which five were on goal. St. Ambrose had 15 shots with six on goal. Mathis Muller ended with five saves.

The team continues conference action on October 17 in a home game with Holy Cross College at 3 pm.
