Trolls Defeated by Tigers

In a conference game the Trolls hosted Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois), a team receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll. Trinity ended in a 3-1 loss, but the final score does not indicate the closeness of the game. The teams were in a 1-1 deadlock until the final five minutes when Olivet Nazarene scored twice to hand the Trolls the two goal loss.

The Trolls were the first team on the scoreboard as they scored 14 minutes into the game. The goal came from the foot of Fekadu Timmermans who dribbled around the defense and found the net.  The Trolls played in that 1-0 lead through the rest of the half.

In the opening five minutes of the second period Olivet Nazarene got the equalizer.  Through the next 35 minutes the score remained 1-1 and it looked as if the game might proceed into overtime. With five minutes left on the clock the Tigers scored the go-ahead goal. Then with 24 seconds left, as the ball was batted around in the box, Olivet got off another shot that found the net to make it a 3-1 final score.

For the game Trinity took nine shots and Olivet Nazarene had 19. Mathis Muller ended with six saves.

The Trolls play next on October 6 at Roosevelt University at 2:30 pm.
