Trolls Battle in Overtime Game

In a home conference contest the Trolls and the Saints of the University of St. Francis (Joliet, Illinois) fought through 110 minutes of play to end in a scoreless tie. With neither team getting on the scoreboard at the end of regulation the game went into two overtime periods. Both teams had a couple of good scoring opportunities in the second period, but the scoreboard remained blank. With the tie the Trolls are 1-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the CCAC.

It was a tough battle as the teams went back and forth and kept each other off the scoreboard. St. Francis had the advantage in shots during regulation with 15 shots to Trinity’s ten.

In the first ten minute overtime period the Trolls took an early attempt, but were denied. St. Francis fired a shot to the upper part of the goal in the final minutes of the overtime, but Mathis Muller deflected the ball over the crossbar.

In the second overtime St. Francis had two shots, but they both missed the mark. The Trolls did not have an attempt.

Overall Trinity had 11 shots and St. Francis had 10. Muller ended the game with five saves and the defense had one.

The Trolls will be in action at home again on October 3 against Olivet Nazarene University at 4 pm.
