Trolls Take on No. 13 Wolves

The conference opener for the Trolls was a challenge as they faced NAIA No. 13 Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin).  Trinity held the Wolves in the opening 45 minutes of play for a 0-0 half-time score. Cardinal Stritch got on the board very early in the second half and added another goal ten minutes later to hand the Trolls the 2-0 loss. The team is 1-6 for the season and 0-1 at the start of the CCAC play.

The Trolls had limited opportunities to score in the first half with only two shots. The Wolves on the other hand took a total of 11 shots. Trinity did a good job of denying of a goal and even prevented a prime scoring opportunity on a penalty kick as Mathis Muller came up with a great save.

The game quickly changed in the second period when Cardinal Stritch scored from the top of the box less than a minute into the half.  In the 57th minute the Wolves struck again when they converted a free kick into a goal. Trinity continued to fight, but were not able to get on the board.

The Trolls ended the game with six shots and Cardinal Stritch had 21. Muller finished with eight saves.

The team will play again on September 22 at Robert Morris University at 8 pm.
