Trolls Suffer Loss at Dordt

In the first of three games in a road trip to Iowa the Trolls took a 2-1 loss at Dordt College (Sioux Center, Iowa). The team gave up one goal in the first half and trailed 2-0 in the second period before they got on the board. Trinity could not get the equalizer and ended in the 2-1 loss. The team is now 0-3 for the season.

The Trolls fell behind 13 minutes into the game when Dordt scored off a free kick that slipped off the hands of goalkeeper Mathis Muller and crossed the goal line. That shot was the only one that made a difference in the first half.

The 1-0 score held in the second period until the 70th minute when the Defenders were awarded a penalty kick that they capitalized on to make the score 2-0. Trinity rallied back immediately and scored 30 seconds later on a goal by Fekadu Timmermans off an Alejandro Sotelo assist.

Playing a man down, the Trolls pushed through the rest of the game, but did not score again.

Trinity ended with nine shots and Dordt had 10. Muller gathered seven saves.

The team will play again on Saturday, September 1, at Northwestern College at 5 pm.
