Trinity Drops Home Opener

The men’s soccer team was in front of their home crowd for the first time in a game with Siena Heights University (Adrian, Michigan). The outing was a first for these two soccer programs and the deciding factor was one goal as the Trolls fell 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored early in the first half and it held until the final buzzer.  Trinity now has a 0-2 start to their season.

Nine minutes into the game Siena Heights was able to connect on an attack and find the goal to take the lead. While the Saints created a few more opportunities to score than the Trolls in the rest of the period, the 1-0 score held at the half.

The offense of both teams was limited in the second half with a total of five shots between the two teams.  The teams played through the entire second 45 minutes without changing the scoreboard and Trinity suffered the shut-out.

The Trolls had seven shot for the game of which three were on-goal. Siena Heights took a total of nine shots and were accurate with their aim with eight of them on-goal. Mathis Muller stopped seven of those attempts.

The team is next in action on August 31 at Dordt College at 2 pm.
