Trolls Come up Short

For the second time this week the Trolls came up shy of a victory in a conference game.  In a home contest with Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois), Trinity fell in a 2-1 final. The team trailed 1-0 at the half and fell behind 2-0 midway through the second period. They got one late goal to close the gap, but the scoring ended there. The team is 3-9-1 overall and 1-5 in the CCAC.

The first period was scoreless until the 33rd minute when Roosevelt found the back of the net to take the lead. It was that 1-0 score that held at the half.

The wind picked up in the second half and the rain started to fall as the teams continued to battle. Roosevelt struck again in the 67th minute to put the Trolls in a 2-0 deficit. Trinity continued to fight and in the 83rd minute they gained ground when Kris Kirchhoff scored off a free kick. The team pushed for a tying goal, but was denied.

The Trolls had five shots for the game and Roosevelt had 20. Mathis Muller recorded 10 saves.

The team will play next on October 14 in a home contest with St. Ambrose University at 2:30 pm.
