Trolls Grab Overtime Win

The weather was hot and the action on the pitch was just as hot as the Trolls played into double overtime with Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois).  Trinity gave up one goal in the first half to trail 1-0 at the intermission. The Trolls scored twice in the second period, but Robert Morris answered late game to make it 2-2 at the end of regulation. In the final minute of the second overtime period the Trolls got the golden goal to win the game with the 3-2 final. Trinity moves to 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the CCAC.

The first goal of the game came midway through the first period as the Eagles got on the board. The teams played in the 1-0 score through the rest of the half.

Trinity struck early in the second period as they scored seven minutes into the half. Receiving a pass from Davi Simoes, Getenet Timmermans turned and fired to find the back of the net.

For the next 30 minutes the teams played in the tie. In the 82nd minute Trinity got the advantage when Alejandro Sotelo put in a shot on a pass from Tate Rozeveld. The Trolls’ edge did not last long as Robert Morris scored three minutes later on a header.

In the first overtime period each team had one shot, but neither team scored. The second overtime period was winding down and with one minute left on the clock Timmermans found a ball off a rebounded shot and fired to get the game winner.

For the game the Trolls had a total of 16 shots and Robert Morris had 13. Mathis Muller was in the goal with nine saves.

Trinity will play next on September 27 at home against Judson University at 4 pm.
