Trinity Defeated by Cornerstone

On an afternoon in Grand Rapids, the Trolls faced the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University.  Trinity trailed 1-0 at the half with a late period goal by Cornerstone. The Trolls quickly tied the game at the start of the second half, but Cornerstone took over the lead again with two more goals. Before the time expired Trinity got one more goal, but it was not enough as they ended with a 3-2 loss. The team is now 2-4 for the season.

The majority of the first half was a scoreless affair, until the final five minutes of the period when Cornerstone scored to make it a 1-0 half-time.

In the first minute of the second period, Trinity got the equalizer when Tyler Massa converted a penalty kick. The tie held for less than 10 minutes as Cornerstone struck twice within a two minute period to go ahead 3-1.   

As time was running out, Trinity struck one final time. In the 88th minute Getenet Timmermans scored on a pass through the middle from Alejandro Sotelo.

For the game the Trolls ended with eight shots of which five were on-goal. Cornerstone had 15 shots with eight of those on goal. Mathis Muller was in the goal with five saves.

The team will play next on September 15 at home against Viterbo University at 5 pm.
