Trolls Denied by Taylor

In a home game the Trolls could not contain Taylor University (Upland, Indiana) in the second period and ended with a 4-0 loss. The teams played to a scoreless first half, but Taylor increased their offensive production in the second period to score four goals. The game was a part of the Trinity Invitational that features four teams. In the first game of the day, NAIA preseason ranked #14 Spring Arbor University defeated #5 West Virginia University Tech, 4-2.

In the first half of the game the Trolls had four shots and they held Taylor to two. As a result the game was still 0-0 at the intermission.

Taylor did not waste time getting their offense going in the second period and scored 21 seconds into the half. The Trojans took a commanding lead 20 minutes later when they scored two more goals within five minutes of each. The game became even more lopsided in the 73rd minute when the Taylor struck again.

Trinity managed only two shots in the second period while Taylor had 12. Mathis Muller was in the goal with four saves.

The Trinity Invitational action will continue on Monday, August 28. West Virginia Tech and Taylor play at 12 pm and Trinity takes on Spring Arbor at 3 pm.
