Trinity Wins in Final Minutes

The home opener for the Trolls was an exciting game with Clarke University (Dubuque, Iowa) as Trinity grabbed the victory in the final five minutes.  The first half of the contest was scoreless, but Clarke got on the board midway through the second period. Trinity trailed until the final minutes when they struck twice to snatch the 2-1 victory. The team is now 1-1 for the start of their season.

In the first half the Trolls were the more offensively aggressive team as they took seven shots and held Clarke to one.  However by the half the game remained scoreless.

Trinity continued to attack in the second period, but the game went in the favor of Clarke in the 63rd minute when they scored on just their third shot of the game. The Trolls continued to play in that 1-0 deficit for the next 22 minutes.

At the 85th minute the Trolls got the equalizer when Davi Simoes put a corner kick into play. The ball was handled by Andrew Heun who found Kris Kirchhoff for the goal. The Trolls used the energy from that goal and one minute later Getenet Timmermans got free with the ball and beat the keeper to give the team the lead.

For the game Trinity ended with 20 shot attempts and Clarke had five. Mathis Muller was in goal with two saves.

The Trolls play next on August 26 when they host Taylor University at 5 pm.
