Mauricio Salgado Leads Team in Honors

Leading the team to one of the most successful seasons in a few years, Mauricio Salgado (Wauconda, Illinois) earned post-season recognition.  The senior forward was named CCAC All-Conference First-Team.  It is his first first-team honor as he has received second-team recognition for the past two seasons. He was also earned NCCAA North Central All-Region Team honors for the fourth straight season.  In addition, Salgado received academic honors as NCCAA and CCAC scholar-athlete. Combining his athletic and academic achievements he was named CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.

For the season Salgado led the team with 22 goals and four assists. He accounted for six of the team’s eight game-winning goals and five times this season he recorded hat tricks. He led the conference in shots, points, and goals and ranked in the top five in the NAIA in goals per game and game winning goals.  In addition he led the NCCAA in point average and in goal average.

Other honors for the team came in the form of scholar-athlete recognition.  Chris Paepke (Brookfield, Wisconsin) was a scholar-athlete at the NAIA, NCCAA, and CCAC levels. Joining him and Salgado on the CCAC scholar list was Cole Boender (Grandville, Michigan), Jake DeRuiter (Pella, Iowa), Jared Mulder (Delavan, Wisconsin), Robert Oostindie (Grand Rapids, Michigan), and junior varsity team members Daniel Herman (Peotone, Illinois), and Azariah Pargulski (Port Washington, Wisconsin).
