Trolls Compete at Kankakee Elks Golf Club

The Trolls competed in a two-day Olivet Nazarene University Spring Invitational at Kankakee Elks Golf Club in St. Anne, Illinois.  After a windy, cool first day of competition the team was in eighth place in the field of nine teams with a team total of 361. Although still windy, the conditions improved somewhat on the second day as did the scores. The team improved their team total to a 349, but did not gain ground in the final standings with an eight place finish.  

Trinity struggled on the first day of competition with all five of the team members in the bottom half of the field. The team had a hard time gaining ground in the second round. The top golfer for the team was Pete Vos who shot an 86 and an 84 and the par 72 course. Among the 52 golfers, he was in a tie for 28th place on the first day and ended in a tie for 30th place.

Bob Schaaf shot a 92 on Friday and was in 44th place. He made a seven stroke improvement on Saturday with an 85 to end in a tie for 40th. Nate Kamp finished day one with a score of 90 and was in a tie for 41st place. Although he improved by two strokes on day, he fell one place and ended in a tie for 42nd.

The fourth place finisher for the team was Joey Davidson who came in 47th with a 93 on each day. Mark Schaaf shot a 95 and 92 to tie for 49th place.  

The team competes next in the CCAC Championships on April 29-30.
