Golfers Challenged in NAIA Midwest Invitational

In their final match of the fall season the Trolls participated in the NAIA Midwest Invitational hosted by St. Ambrose University. Trinity was challenged by a strong field of 15 teams and a tough course at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. After the first round of 18 holes the Trolls were in 14th place with a team score of 363. The scores improved in the second round with a 343, but their final standing did not as they finished in 14th place.

The Trolls struggled in the first day of completion on the par 71 course. Of the five golfers on the team only two shot below 90 after 18 holes. Steven Massey and Pete Vos both logged an 87 and were in a tie for 42nd place of the 76 competitors. Massey made a four stroke improvement in the second round and with a two-day total of 170 he finished in a tie for 38th place. Vos also improved in the second round with an 84, but dropped one place to end tied for 43rd.

Dan Vos finished day one with a 93 and came back with a 89 in the second round to finish tied for 58th. Jim Vos made the most improvement from one round to the next. He posted a 98 on day one and an 87 on day two and moved up 10 places to end in a tie for 65th. Bob Schaaf shot a 96 and a 100 and took 75th place.
