Trolls Open Spring Season

The spring golf season opened for the Trolls at the Olivet Nazarene University Spring Invitational. The two day event was played at Kankakee Elks Country Club in St. Anne, Illinois.   After the first round the Trolls had a team total of 344 and were in seventh place of the seven teams. The team improved their score by nine strokes with a 335 the second day, but did not gain ground in the standings and finished in seventh place.

Steven Massey led the team and made the biggest charge from first day to the second day. He shot an 86 on Friday and was tied for 31st place of the 39 golfers. He improved his score by 10 strokes on the second round and moved up 21 spots for a tied for 10th place overall finish.

Also making an improvement from day to day was Pete Vos. After the first round he was tied for 28th with an 85. He moved up five places with an 82 in the second round and ended in a tie for 23rd place.

Jim Vos had the team’s low round on Friday with an 84. He matched that score on Saturday and finished in a tie for 26th. Matt Dail shot an 89 and a 93 for 37th place and Bob Schaaf recorded a 96 and 93 for 38th place.

The team competes next on April 10 in the University of St. Francis Spring Invitational at Inwood Golf Course at 10 am.
