Trinity Hosts Troll Classic

The Trolls played on their home course at Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Illinois along with seven other teams in the Troll Classic. The familiarity of the course did not prove to be an advantage for the team as they finished in seventh place overall.  The Trolls posted a team score of 338, which was 35 strokes back from the winning score of 303.

Steven Massey led the team and finished in the top ten of the field of 47 golfers.  With eight pars and three birdies for the day, he shot 78 and was in a tie for ninth place. He recorded a 40 on the front nine and a 38 on the back.

The second highest finisher that counted in the team standings was Matt Dail who tied for 23rd place. He had a total of 82.

A couple of the better scores for the team came from two golfers who were competing as individuals. Pete Vos was eight over par with a 79 and ended in a tie for 12th place. He had a 38 on the front and a 41 on the back.  Bob Schaaf recorded an 87 for the day and was tied for 34th place.

The team will compete again on October 5-6 in the Purdue University-Northwest Invitational.
