Trolls Compete in NCCAA Regional

The Trolls were one of three teams competing in the NCCAA North Central Region Tournament for the right to advance to the NCCAA National Championship. The 36-hole tournament was hosted by the University of Northwestern (MN) at Dellwood Country Club in Dellwood, Minnesota. After the first day of competition Trinity trailed the other two teams with a 335 team score. They improved their team total by 10 strokes in the second round, but did not gain ground in the standings and ended in third place with a team total of 660.  

Steven Massey made a three stroke from the first 18 to the second 18. After day one he sat in the middle of the field of 15 golfers in seventh place with an 82. He followed that with a 79 and moved up three places to finish tied for fourth.  

Matt Dail had the team’s low round on the first day of competition with an 81. He was in a tie for fourth place and was three strokes back from the leader. However with an 85 in the second round he dropped to a tie for 10th place.  

Nate Kamp recorded an 85 in the first round and was tied for 11th. He improved in the in the second day with an 81 and moved up one spot to tie for 10th. Pete Vos ended the tournament in 13th place with an 89 and 81 and Jim Vos was in a tie for 14th with rounds of 87 and 84.  

The team will compete next in their Troll Classic at Calumet Country Club on October 2.
