Trolls Challenged at Battle at Blackthorn

The Trolls participated in the two-day Bethel College Battle at Blackthorn in South Bend, Indiana. The team struggled through the first 18 holes and was in 11th place of the 12 teams after the first round.  They made a 16 stroke improvement in the second round, but did not gain ground in the standings to remain in 11th place.

The lead golfer for the Trolls was Steven Massey. He shot an 81 on the Friday and was in a large pack of golfers in a tie for 39th place in the field of 63 competitors. He improved his score by five strokes with a 76 on the second day and moved up to a 30th place tie in the final standings.

Nate Kamp made the biggest improvement from the first round to the second. After a 83 on day one he was in a tie for 55th, but he came back with a 76 to move up to a tie for 36th.

Jim Vos finished the match with a 163, posting an 83 and 80, and was tied for 46th place. Matt Dail was tied for 52nd with a 165 and Pete Vos was tied for 55th at 167.

The team competes next on September 22-23 in the NCCAA North Central Region tournament in Dellwood, Minnesota.
