Trinity Opens Season in Holy Cross CCAC Cup

The golf team opened their season in the Holy Cross CCAC Cup at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood, Illinois. The two-day event featured seven conference teams.  After the first day of competition on the par 70 course the Trolls were in sixth place with a team total of 314. They improved their team total by nine strokes in the second 18 holes, but overall remained in sixth place.  

Leading the Trolls was junior Steven Massey who shot a 150 total. He posted a seven-over-par 77 for his first 18 holes and was tied for 18th place. He came back the next day with a 73 to move into a final finish of tied for 12th in the field of 39 golfers.

Senior Matt Dail was one stroke back from Massey and in a 22nd place after day one. He followed up his 78 with a 77 on day two and held his position in a tie for 22nd place. Also in that 22nd place tie was freshman Nate Kamp. After a 79 first round, he posted a 76 in the second round for a 155 total.

The fourth golfer for the team was freshman Pete Vos who shot a 159 with rounds of 80 and 79. He finished tied for 28th. Junior Jim Vos came in with scores of 81 and 80 and was tied for 31st.
The team will play next on September 12 at the University of St. Francis Invitational.
