Trolls Struggle at Blackthorn
The team had a rough weekend at the Bethel University Pilot Spring Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Indiana. After 18 holes of golf they were in 11th place of the 12 teams in the two-day completion. They made a minor improvement in their team total the second round and moved up one spot to finish in 10th place with a 662 two day total.
While most of the team struggled Steven Massey shot well and ended in a tie for third place of the 61 golfers. He posted a 74, 2-over par, in first day and was in 7th place and just two strokes out of first place. He came back the second day with a 76 and finished four strokes out of the winning score.
The other members of the team all finished in the lower half of the field. Jonathan Zandstra sat in a tie for 48th place after the first round, but made an eight stroke improvement on day two to finish in 35th with a 166 total. Alek Svabek had 172 and finished tied for 45th. Jim Vos posted a 178 for 52nd place and Matt Dail was tied for 53rd with 179.
The Trolls will compete next in the conference tournament on April 24-25 in Silvis, Iowa.
