Trinity Defeated by Judson

Coming off a win earlier in the week, the Trolls were ready to begin their conference schedule again with a home contest against Judson University (Elgin, Illinois).  Trinity fell behind in the first half of the game, but fought back to tie the game four times in the final four minutes of the period. By the intermission they were down by five at 43-38. Judson went ahead by double digits in the second period and this time the Trolls did not come back. In the end Trinity took an 89-80 loss. The team is now 5-12 overall and 1-7 in the CCAC.

Scoring only two points in the opening three minutes, the Trolls fell behind by double digits. Trinity worked at the scoring gap and midway through the period they had it to seven points at 25-18. The Trolls chipped away at the Eagles’ lead and on consecutive jumpers by Jared Jonkman they tied the game at 32-32 with four minutes left. The teams traded baskets over the next three minutes and were deadlocked at 38-38 with 1:40 to play. Judson hit a jumper and a trey in the final minute to take a five points, 43-38, half-time lead.

In the opening minutes of the second period Judson outscored Trinity 9-to-4 to go make the difference 10 points.  At the half mark of the period the scoring gap was at its widest at 16 points. While Trinity worked on gaining ground they continued to trail by double digits until the final seconds when they narrowed it to the final nine point gap.

The Trolls shot .508 percent from the field, .200 percent from the arc, and .688 percent from the line. Judson was .471 percent from the floor, .346 percent from the three-point line, and .640 percent from the free throw line. The Trolls picked up 35 rebounds and Judson had 42.
