Trolls Drop Game to Fighting Saints

Looking to get their first conference win, the Trolls faced the University of St. Francis (Joliet, Illinois) at home in a conference contest. The game was fairly tight in the first half and at the break Trinity trailed by only six points at 33-26. The second half started to get away from the team and the scoring gap widened as the game progressed. In the end Trinity lost at 82-57. The team falls to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the CCAC.

Through the first nine minutes of the game the teams were never separated by more than four points. With five minutes left in the period the gap was four at 19-15, but St. Francis went on a 10-to-4 run to make the difference 10 points. Trinity answered with the next seven points to close to within three. St. Francis had the final two buckets of the half to bring the half-time score to 33-26.

In the first four minutes of the second period the Trolls were out-scored 13-to-6 and were down by 14. The double-digit difference continued throughout the half and with another scoring run by St. Francis it grew to a 23 point difference with six minutes to play. By the game’s end the Troll suffered a 25 point loss.

Trinity had .349 field goal percentage , a .333 three-point percentage, and a .583 free throw percentage for the game. St. Francis was .448 percent from the floor, .455 percent from the three-point line, and .769 percent from the charity stripe. The Trolls were out-rebounded 48 to 31. Joshua Shannon led the team with 12 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Myles Birgans had nine points and Deantre DeYoung had seven. Josh Decker picked up five rebounds and had three assists.

The Trolls will continue conference action on December 1 at Olivet Nazarene University at 3 pm.
